 About Dr. Kiely

Choosing a reputable physician for your hair transplant procedure is undoubtedly the most crucial decision you will make in the entire process. When correctly performed by a trained surgeon, the success rate of hair transplants is very high.

The physician of your choice should be professional, competent, sensitive and responsive to your needs and desires. Remember, you are making an important decision and you must feel comfortable with the physician performing the procedure. You should also ascertain that your confidentiality will be honored.

Perhaps one of the most important factors involved in hair transplants is the restorative surgical skills of the physician. Since the results from your procedure will last a lifetime, your ultimate responsibility to yourself is to select a trained physician or surgeon with extensive experience in hair transplantation, and a track record of success. Dr. Kiely has performed hair transplant procedures since 1981, and he personally performs all the procedures. He has performed thousands of procedures.

Today, most hair transplants clinics are operated by trained technicians or laymen who hire moonlighting physicians to perform surgery. Be extremely wary of these clinics. Ask to see medical credentials if they are not prominently displayed. Do not let yourself be impressed by credentials. As it turns out, a significant number of these specialists may only perform one or two procedures per month. Be advised that hair transplantation is not recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties as one for which Board Certification is required. There is no Board Certification for Hair Transplantation.

Dr. Kiely is a graduate of Vanderbilt Medical School. He is a Board Certified Physician, member of the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the International Society of Hair Restoration, among others.

Until January of 1997, Dr. Kiely operated out of his office in Silver Spring, Maryland. He has since acquired the office of another well known hair transplant specialist, Dr. Jeffrey Weidig. He is known world wide and his office was located in Rockville, Maryland. Dr. Weidig has retired and selected Dr. Kiely to continue caring for his patients. Dr. Kiely now operates mainly out of that office, located in Rockville, Maryland.

Dr. Kiely utilizes the latest techniques in hair transplantation- mini/micro-grafting follicular clumps- the only proven way to efficiently move hair to the thinning areas to provide not only coverage, but DENSITY in the treated areas.
